Our Summer of Resistance Camp kicked off last week with the Camp of Peace Session, designed to support children’s connections with themselves: focusing on strategies for grounding, creating a world full of peace and liberation for all. The goal of the first session was to create a collective identity through ancestral practices of a drum circle, meditation, yoga, learning songs of freedom, and clearing our energy, as well as making tie dye shirts and building community together.
At the end of the week, we reflected on the Camp of Peace and prepared to move into this week’s session, our Mother Earth Camp. As we focus on learning about our connections with Earth this week, our parlor is decorated with words, images, and memorabilia that the children created during our Camp of Peace session.
